Lab-Grown Diamonds: From Luxury to High-Tech Frontiers

Lab-grown diamonds (LGDs) have moved far beyond imitation. They are now reshaping global luxury, fashion, and technology. DMCC’s The Future of Trade – Special Lab-Grown Diamond Edition 2025 captures this transformation, drawing insights from the second Lab-Grown Diamond Symposium held in Dubai.

The report charts how LGDs have transitioned from a scientific breakthrough to a $25–35 billion market set to exceed $60–100 billion by the early 2030s. Once defined by price advantage and ethics, LGDs today represent design innovation, sustainability, and cutting-edge science. Nearly half of all U.S. engagement rings now feature LGDs, while Europe, India, China, and the Middle East rapidly follow.

Beyond jewellery, LGDs are powering a new wave of creativity—appearing in watches, fashion, and lifestyle accessories. At the same time, their unique physical properties are unlocking high-tech applications in semiconductors, quantum computing, photonics, and medical devices.

Sustainability also sits at the heart of this growth, with verified low-carbon production and ESG standards emerging as key competitive differentiators. Dubai, home to DMCC’s thriving diamond ecosystem, is positioning itself as the global hub connecting jewellery, technology, and finance.

The report concludes that the winners of the next decade will be those who combine creativity with verified sustainability and technological foresight.
